BELGIUM COLD SPRINGS FIRE DISTRICT
ANNUAL ELECTION

Please take notice that the 2020 Annual Election of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Belgium Cold Springs Fire District will take place on December 8, 2020, from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Fire Station #1 at 7920 River Road, Baldwinsville, New York.

The election will be held for one Commissioner for a five (5) year term to serve from January 1, 2021 to December 31, 2025.

The residents of the Fire District who wish to have their name placed on the Ballot to run for Fire Commissioner must indicate so in writing to the Secretary of the Board of Fire Commissioners, 8435 Loop Road, Baldwinsville, New York 13027, by November 18, 2020.

The election will also be the vote on the following resolution:
WHEREAS, The Belgium Cold Springs Fire District would like to increase the amount awarded per year for the Service Awards Program in accordance to the amendment to Section 218 of the General Municipal Law passed on November 8, 2019 to increase the annual amount from $700 to $1200.

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Fire Commissioners of the Belgium Cold Springs Fire District would like to amend the Belgium Cold Springs Fire Department Defined Contribution Service Award Program, established by referendum on May 15, 1992, to increase the credit contribution from $700 to $1200 annually for those firefighters who meet the 50 point requirement to earn their annual service awards contribution. The new contribution of $1200 per year for each firefighter who qualifies for the annual contribution will be become effective on January 1, 2021 and begin in the 2021 year of the Service Awards Program. The estimated total annual increase in cost, based on the number of existing firefighters participating in the Service Awards Program will be approximately $20,000 per year.

It should be further noted that should this resolution be denied by the voters of the Belgium Cold Springs Fire District, the existing plan will not be affected.

In order to vote in this election, residents of the Fire District must be registered to vote with the Onondaga County Board of Elections by November 16, 2020.
